Establishing an SFTP Feed for Corporate Card Transactions to Hyper

Hyper can receive corporate card transaction data via a secure SFTP feed directly from your issuing bank.

Overview

The SFTP feed delivers transaction-level data from your bank to Hyper on a scheduled basis, typically nightly. This enables near real-time visibility into card spend and allows Hyper to automatically prompt users for receipts, apply policy checks, and prepare expenses for review.

The setup is initiated and approved by the bank and may take one or more weeks to complete (depending on your bank’s response times).

Step-by-Step Process

  1. Contact Your Bank Account Manager
Reach out to your bank account manager or business banking support team. Clearly state that you would like to enable a third-party SFTP data feed for your corporate card program (Mastercard, Visa, American Express, etc.) to your expense management provider.
  2. Request and Complete Bank Authorization Forms
The bank will provide formal application and authorization forms to approve the data transfer.
You will typically be asked to provide:
    • Company legal details
    • Corporate card program details
    • Confirmation that Hyper is the authorized third-party recipient
These forms are required for bank approval and compliance.
  3. Coordinate With Hyper for SFTP Details
Hyper will provide the technical details the bank requires to configure the feed, including:
    • SFTP host name
    • Username
    • Authentication method (SSH key or credentials)
    • Expected file format and delivery cadence
You will share these details with the bank as part of the setup.
  4. Bank Technical Setup and Testing
Once approved, the bank will configure the SFTP delivery. Key points:
    • Files are typically delivered nightly
    • Formats are usually CSV or similar structured files
    • The bank may request a public SSH key for secure access
    • Test files may be sent before going live
Hyper will confirm successful receipt and parsing of the data.
  5. Go Live and Ongoing Monitoring
After validation, the feed is moved to production. Hyper will:
    • Automatically ingest transactions as they arrive
    • Associate transactions with cardholders
    • Prompt users for receipts and details
    • Apply expense policy and accounting logic

Note: This feed provides transaction data only. Statement payments and settlements remain handled directly by your bank.

Key Considerations

  • Timeline: Expect the process to take one to several weeks, depending on bank approval timelines and internal reviews.
  • Security: SFTP feeds use encrypted transmission and key-based authentication. Hyper will guide you on secure key exchange.
  • Fees: Some banks charge a fee for third-party data feeds. Confirm any applicable costs with your account manager.
  • Data Scope: The feed includes transaction-level data, not payment or settlement movements.
